50th ANNIVERSARY BALEARIC NAVY SECTOR

The Army has commemorated the 50th Anniversary of the creation of the unit of the Navy Sector of the Balearic Islands, in an act that has celebrated the naval station of Porto Pi of Palma. The Navy Station of Porto Pi in Palma, has hosted a series of activities, including a mass in the chapel and ceremony in the moorings of Porto Pi, that was directed by the Almirante del Arsenal of Cartagena, vice admiral Alejandro Cuerda Lorenzo.

The act has counted with the presence of the ships of the Fuerza de Medidas Contraminas (MCM), which have participated in the navy maneuvers MINEX-24 and has been linked historically to this Navy Sector during many years.

As well the Military Authorities of Palma attended, old chiefs of the Navy Sector of the Balearic Islands and members of the Army designated or residents in Mallorca that retired.
