APB invests over 1 million euros in a marine biodiversity project

This is a pioneering project that revitalizes the marine ecosystem at the breakwaters of Portitxol and Molinar in the port of Palma, while simultaneously reinforcing the dikes.

The action introduces the use of concrete blocks specifically designed to encourage the colonization of marine flora and fauna.

With an investment of 1.5 million euros and a three-month execution period, the initiative seeks not only to reinforce the stability of the dikes against rising sea levels and adverse climatic conditions but also to promote the regeneration of the marine ecosystem.

This technique is based on the combination of textured surfaces and biopotential materials that facilitate the settlement of marine organisms. Tangible results in the biodiversity of the area are expected to be observed within two years.

With this action, the APB reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and the protection of the marine environment, betting on innovative solutions that contribute to the balance between port infrastructure and the conservation of natural ecosystems.
