A professional team and with passion: defines the success of the Ibiza JoySail

The Ibiza JoySail, the race of Superyachts is celebrated at the sea of the Balearic Islands, organized by STP Shipyard Palma and Ibiza Marina. For this 2023 edition it will count with a higher technical and organized team.

From this year's edition, the regatta is invitational so no more than twenty boats will participate in the third edition of the Ibiza JoySail, which this year will be held from 27th to 30th of September, celebrating in style the closing of the season.

At the Ibiza JoySail gather a series of conditions that make it special, not only for its destination which is Ibiza and Formentera, that with its energy and good vibes makes everyone want to stay, or because of the facilities of STP or the location of the prestigious Ibiza Marina.

The influential sailor Nacho Postigo, occupies the direction of the race. Postigo is one of the sailors most quoted in the nautical competition world and has good knowledge of sailing on superyachts as he participates both in the European superyacht circuit (Saint-Tropez, Palma, Porto Cervo...) as well as in the American circuit (Saint Barth, Caribbean 600...) and has sailed for many years in different boats of the Maxi class as well as the mythical J Class or the competitive TP52, as well as in two editions of the America's Cup (2000 and 2007).

Nacho is in charge of designing the technical strategy and the sailing field, and it is thanks to his knowledge to this profile of boats and races, and the positioning of the Ibiza JoySail, always looking to offer an entertaining field of races so that the boats have fun, this event has charged a quick interest in very little time.

Continuing with the technical team on the water, the criteria for choosing the person dedicated to each position has been, since the beginning of this regatta, to have "the best" in his or her field. It is a team guaranteed by Gaspar Morey as PRO that, accompanied by Sebastián Vidal, responsible for the Club Náutico of Ibiza and Pablo Ferrer, professional meter with a long track record, all together make a perfect tandem when looking for the best conditions and rules to make a great race. Morey, other than being a member of the Regatta Committee, he coordinates the Office of regattas. He is also the technical director of the Real Club Náutico of Palma, also he is the PRO at events such as the Copa del Rey Mapfre and PalmaVela, among others. And Pablo Ferrer, is in charge of measuring the circuit of the TP52 and many other high performance boats in the world.

The Regatta Committee will be headed, once more, by Andrés Pérez, who has been president of the recent finishing of The Ocean Race and the circuit of the 52 Super Series. Next to him there will be the scottish Bill O’Hara, the portuguese Miguel Allen ( America's Cup and SailGP referee), Manuel Santos da Silva and the spanish David María.

Andrés Pérez is the president of the International Jury. The asturian counts with a wide journey of high level competitions. Pérez has a clear mind that “the Ibiza JoySail is a race with a present and great future”, and adds that “this demonstrates, not only the hard work that goes at sea, but also the social part. The conjunction of sea and earth is the key to success with this event”.

And as we are talking about the social part on earth, we must say that the organizing team that is made by big professionals of GRUPO IPM-IMG, promoter of this event that in a small amount of time has emerged with power in the international circuit of the superyachts regattas.

On one hand, the IPM-IMG Group stands out Joan Rosselló (manager of STP) and Daniel Marí (manager of Ibiza Marina) as the host of each and every one of the facilities where the action is taken.

In addition to these two members of the IPM-IMG Group, the marketing and communication team is also part of the IPM-IMG Group, where the idea came up for the Ibiza JoySail. The team that with great passion is in charge of the staging of the regatta and is formed by Ana Teske, Juana Morell, Gloria Triay and Kety Sierra. They are the guardians of the positioning and the essence of the regatta, and are in charge of the relationship with the participants and the coordination and smooth running of the event on land.

This way the Ibiza JoySail continues to give her best to the participants, at a race where other than the sportive aspect in the water, it is also enjoyed on land, which has the added bonus of having created a unique and special "Family & Friends Community".

But if the Ibiza JoySail has been so known, it is thanks to the press team that, from the first edition counted with Jaume Soler as one of the most known and respected journalist of the sector, and the audiovisual area with an important bet on the participation of renowned photographers such as the award-winning Nico Martínez, together with Pedro Martínez and Jesús Renedo (Sailing Energy) and an old friend of the house, Carlos Hellín (Nautimedia), in video production.
