The boats, crewed by two sailors, had to cover the Round Formentera and circumnavigate it on the starboard side, covering a distance of 42 nautical miles.
The early stages of the race were fast, from the start signal, with a southwest wind of between 10 and 18 knots of intensity marking the race, until passing by the La Mola lighthouse, the wind gradually refreshing in intensity as the day went on, which facilitated a quick round. Once past the La Mola lighthouse, the boats headed upwind to Cap de Barberia with an 18-knot wind where the larger boats, “Alba Alba” and “Immens,” had a beautiful duel for the lead in the race.
The first boat to cross the finish line was “Alba Alba,” which reached the finish line at 4:00 PM, taking 6 hours and 15 minutes to complete the Round Formentera. The boat, crewed by Luis Mata and Carlos Monter, also achieved victory on corrected time, managing to overcome the boat “Immens.” The second place was “Immens,” crewed by Nicolás Pesich and Gerardo Molina, which reached the finish line at 4:04 PM, and the third place on corrected time went to the boat “Posidonia,” from Ramón Balanzat and Ramón Balanzat, father and son, who arrived at the finish line, located in Talamanca at 5:36 PM. It is worth mentioning the young crew of the boat “Flag,” by Daniel Lloyd and Roque García, who also managed to finish the race in fourth position once the corrected times were calculated.
