This award was presented to the president and CEO of Alcudiamar, Bartomeu Bestard, by the president of CAEB, Carmen Planas, in front of an audience of 400 people including businessmen, politicians and representatives of Balearic civil society. Among others, the president of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, the president of the Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises, Gerardo Cuerva, and the president of the National Federation of Associations of Self-Employed Workers, Lorenzo Amor, attended the event.

After receiving the award, Bestard expressed his gratitude for the recognition, which he wanted to share with "the professional teams that have accompanied me on this long journey. This award encourages us to continue on the road to excellence, to continue to be leaders in innovation and development, and to contribute to the responsible growth of the Balearic Islands". During his speech, he defended innovation as "a way of thinking about business with a strategic approach, and of facing the increasingly demanding challenges that we entrepreneurs face".

With the CAEB Awards, the employers' confederation recognises business people who are committed to the sustainability of our territory, encourage leadership among their staff and value talent, invest in innovation and development and promote the growth and expansion of their productive sectors.

Along with Bartomeu Bestard, from Alcudiamar, the winners were Daniel Ramon Manera, from Podarcis, in the Environmental Sustainability category; Joan Suñer Galmés, from Càrniques Sunyer, in the Leadership and Talent Management category, and Xavier March Morlà, from Refineria Web, in the Growth and Expansion category. In addition, the president and founder of Ángel24, Bartomeu Riera, has been recognised as Entrepreneur of the Year 2023.

Bartomeu Bestard was a pioneer in the creation of several technological associations. He later chaired the innovation commissions of the CAEB and the Chamber of Commerce, and was the founder of the Federation of Nautical Companies of the Balearic Islands and the Association of Nautical Sports Facilities.

Under his leadership Alcudiamar, the concessionaire of the Alcudia marina, has become a benchmark in the field of marinas and marinas thanks to a management model focused on innovation, excellence and sustainability of the marine environment.

This is not the first recognition for innovation received by Alcudiamar, the first Spanish marina to obtain the Innovative Pyme certificate awarded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, which endorses its firm commitment to Research, Development and Innovation in the nautical sector.

This seal recognises Alcudiamar's ability to adapt to the changing challenges of the market and its constant search for cutting-edge solutions in the interests of sustainability, through innovative projects that pursue specific objectives.

In the area of improving the water cycle, the marina has a pioneering recirculation system that collects water from the port breakwater and injects it into the dock, as well as an oxygenation system that periodically aerates it. It also incorporates an innovative system for collecting bilge and fecal water from the boats by means of an innovative vacuum suction method.

On the other hand, in order to boost energy efficiency, it has smart supply turrets to control vessels and internal home automation systems to manage consumption in port facilities.

Likewise, in terms of digitalisation and process optimisation, its online booking platform and digital information board stand out. It also has a new self-fuelling system at its petrol station and an improved control and surveillance system for installations and access to the port.

The Innovative Pyme award reinforces Alcudiamar's commitment to continue investing in research and development, exploring new technologies and perfecting the excellence of the services it offers its clients and users.
