America's Cup Teams to Be Tested Before the Start of the Louis Vuitton Cup

Less than a month before the third and final preliminary regatta begins on August 22, the Regatta Director has published the Sailing Instructions and the pairings for each day of competition.

Fans of the 37th Louis Vuitton America's Cup will be thrilled with the exciting pairings for the Preliminary Regatta, including the highlight clash between the America's Cup defenders, Emirates Team New Zealand, and the defeated finalists of the 36th America's Cup, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli.

The Italian Challenger will also compete twice on the opening day, August 22, facing the French Orient Express Racing in the last race. There will also be an exciting lineup on the first day of racing between the Challenger of Record, Ineos Britannia, and the formidable NYYC American Magic, while the Swiss Alinghi Red Bull Racing will open the competition with a first matchup against the Orient Express Racing Team.

Depending on the conditions, the first day of the Preliminary Regatta may provide significant insights into the teams' form and offer a first glimpse of the racing techniques and strategies each team has been perfecting over the past three years of preparation. There will be four consecutive days of racing, with four races each day, and the final, a single race, will be contested between the top two teams. The winner of the final Preliminary Regatta will have endured some of the toughest races on the planet, and no team will want to perform poorly as they are all eager to test their readiness for the Louis Vuitton Cup, which begins on August 29.

As we enter the Louis Vuitton Cup, everything gets very serious with the points tally, and no team can afford to relax. The intention is for the Double Round Robin races to last approximately 23 minutes, with a 12-minute time limit for the first leg and a 45-minute limit for the entire race. The opening day of the Louis Vuitton Cup will start with an exciting matchup between Orient Express Racing and Alinghi Red Bull Racing, and the preliminary regatta format will be repeated with Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli against Emirates Team New Zealand.
