The meeting began with a welcome from the president of the APB, Javier Sanz, who introduced the attendees to the proposal for reorganization of the Port of Palma, highlighting the actions that the Port Authority promotes for the development of the island's maritime infrastructures. Subsequently, the Director General of Ports and Maritime Transport, Antoni Mercant, presented the key projects that the Government of the Balearic Islands is developing for the sector, with a special focus on the modernization and sustainability of port services.
This forum focused on establishing the foundations to offer associated companies a space for exchanging information about actions carried out to date, as well as identifying the current challenges facing the nautical industry in Mallorca. The main goal was to address the specific needs of local companies and promote the necessary initiatives for a competitive and sustainable development of the sector with an approach adapted to the reality of the island. This meeting represented an excellent opportunity to strengthen collaboration among the nautical companies of Mallorca and consolidate joint strategies that have enabled overcoming sector challenges.
"These types of meetings will be the best frameworks for meeting to listen to companies, plan actions and objectives, and inform about the different activities we carry out as employers," explains Jordi Carrasco, Director General of ANEN.
"It's a way to maintain fluid and close contact with associated companies," he adds. "That's why we will carry out initiatives and meetings regularly, as well as some events open to society as a whole. Furthermore, we will form working groups for the different subsectors within nautics, in order to work specifically on the problems of each," he points out.
