At Puerto Portals starts the fight to get the title of the 52 SUPER SERIES 2023

The 11 teams of eight nationalities that will compete in Puerto Portals for the last event of the 52 SUPER SERIES 2023 have already launched the race course for the regattas of the Bay of Palma with the traditional regatta of the official training.

The 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week of Port Portals will resolve the season with five intense days of competition and up to 10 races which will end the following Saturday crowning the champion of the circuit.

The journey of the official entertainment of Port Portals 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week has served as a general practice for the teams and to organize the preparation for the week of racing that will decide the 52 SUPER SERIES 2023. After the passage of a front over Mallorca, the race course in the bay of Palma has presented wind close to 20 knots and a wave up to a meter and a half high that has left magnificent images of TP52 spectacle. On land, Port Portals has demonstrated again its extraordinary capacity to organize top notch events, reaffirming its status as a favorite venue among the crews.

The eleven teams of eight nationalities that will compete in the last event of the season, will fulfill a menu consisting of two starting procedures and two short races which, although they do not score points, may give clues as to what will be seen in Mallorcan waters until Saturday. The “Sled” of the shipowner and helmsman Takashi Okura accomplished the victory of the day and “Provezza” of the Turkish Ergin Imre the second.

The weather conditions will predetermine the development of the program of regattas that start this Tuesday 19th of September. At Puerto Portals there will be a challenge to achieve the champion crown of the 52 SUPER SERIES 2023, but also the fifth and last title of the season. The doubt is who will accomplish to break the duality of Provezza-Platoon, the two most powerful teams of the season and winners of the four events competed until this date. "Provezza" leads the provisional standings with an 18-point advantage over "Platoon", winner of the last two events and recently proclaimed TP52 World Champion 2023. A priori, both will be sailing with an eye on the absolute prize while the others will try to end the year with a title in their showcase. In addition to the duel between the Turkish and the German, the duel between the American "Quantum Racing powered by American Magic" and the British "Gladiator" of Tony Langley stands out, separated by one point in the battle for the third place on the 2023 podium.

In an attempt to reverse the poor results of the season, the champions of 2022 they recuperated their tactics with John Kostecki, who has been absent since the first event of the year due to health problems. Kostecki was delighted to be back.

The program for the competition of Puerto Portals  52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week will consist of a maximum of ten races between Tuesday the 19th of September, and Saturday 23rd. The competition will start every day from 13:00h.
