The Austrian boat “Basic Logic,” helmed by Werner Deuring, remains at the forefront of the VIII Puerto Portals Dragon Winter Series after completing the third round of the competition this weekend. Despite a modest thirteenth place in the only race held yesterday, January 26—a result that has been discarded—the team extends its lead in the overall standings.

“Easy,” helmed by Portuguese Michael Zankel, occupies the second position with 62 points, although it did not capitalize on the leader's mishap due to a fourteenth-place finish in yesterday’s race on January 26, which could not be discarded because of a sixteenth-place result being their worst in the series.

Meanwhile, “Galant,” helmed by Jan Strombeck, third in the general classification, was the only boat on the podium that held its ground in this Sunday's race, finishing in fourth place. However, it remains a considerable distance from the lead, with 87 points compared to the 51 of “Basic Logic.”

The victory in yesterday's race went to “My Way,” helmed by Dane Frank Berg, currently in twelfth place in the general classification. The Race Committee waited for conditions to improve before starting the race, which began at 13:05 with a wind of 9 knots and 215 degrees, and a windward mark set at 1.1 miles. The race proceeded without incidents, and “My Way” crossed the finish line in just under an hour.

This third round consisted of six heats (two on Friday, three on Saturday, and one on Sunday), and “Basic Logic” was the best boat of the weekend, tied with the Swiss “Yeahnah,” helmed by Jan Eckert, with a net score of 14 points.

Since the start of the Winter Series, a total of 15 races have been held, with the participation of 22 boats representing eight countries. The final round of this competition, which gathers some of the best boats from the European Dragon class fleet, will take place from February 21 to 23 in Puerto Portals.
