STAY UP TO DATE OF WHAT WE DO AND RECEIVE OUR NEWSLETTERA blank day, therefore, which crowns the Menorcan crew of Enric Noguera and Cristian Vidal (CM Mahón) as the new Spanish champions in the absolute category, along with the Almerians Martín Fresneda and José González (Club de Mar Almería).
From early in the morning on the last day of competition, the Committee, along with the race observer and mark layers, carried out measurements on the racecourse, confirming the worst predictions. From the start of the day, the wind had an intensity between twenty and twenty-four knots, with gusts reaching twenty-seven knots from 270º, making it unfeasible for the fleet to leave their location in the dry marina of the Real Club Marítimo de Melilla.
After a reasonable waiting period, the competition officials decided to cancel the day and bring the Spanish Championship to a close. The event had been organized since Thursday, April 17 by the Real Club Marítimo de Melilla, the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, and the Sports Department through the project "Melilla, City of Sport."
The Belgian team of Manu Hens and Alexandre Tinoco (CM Mahón) finished in first place in the overall standings of the regatta, followed by Enric Noguera and Cristian Vidal (CM Mahón), who, as the top team with Spanish nationality and residence, are the new Spanish Champions. Jordi Triay and Lluis Mas (CM Mahón) placed third.
The top female crew was made up of María Bover and María Fiestas (RCN Palma/RC Mediterráneo).
Francisco and Marina Sánchez Ferrer (RCR Santiago de la Ribera) were the top mixed crew. Manu Hens and Alexandre Tinoco also finished as the best sailors in the Master group, followed by their clubmates Damián Borras and Sara Franceschi.
The competition concluded after two intense days on the racecourse, during which four races were completed by a fleet of one hundred boats. The crews from CM Mahón stood out, occupying the top positions on the final podium. CM Mahón will also host the Snipe Class World Championship next year.
