The excellent form of the Club Marítimo de Mahón and its athletes received a new wave of excitement this weekend with Sara Franceschi and Laia García's victory at the European Women's Snipe Championship held in Melilla, which also earned them the Spanish Championship title in the same category.

This double victory was further complemented by the win in the youth category of the European Championship by Maria Correa and Teresa Sánchez-Casas. The Club Marítimo de Mahón has made a significant impact by achieving the absolute European female and male victory in 2023 with Jordi Triay and Enric Noguera, and the mixed category in 2024 with Damián and Carmen Mateo.

The championship was not easy for the Club Marítimo de Mahón fleet as the wind conditions were quite unstable. On Friday, the first race took place where Franceschi and García fought hard to finish in second place. On Saturday, the wind stabilized, allowing the Organizing Committee to hold three races where the sailors from Menorca secured their victory with a second place, a fifth place, and a fourth place, finishing with 13 points (8 points with the discard), tied with Alicia Cebrián, who has competed in three Olympic Games, trained by Damián Borrás in Rio, and Julia Marfil, but with a better result. Additionally, the sailors from Menorca finished ahead of Rosa Foruria, the previous European champion, and Ángela Pomariega, also a European champion and gold medalist in the 2012 London Olympics, among other rivals, illustrating the complexity of the competition.

The wind died down on Sunday, and the Committee decided to cancel the last day of races due to excessive wind, confirming the excellent performance shown by the group led by coach Damián Borrás, who already won the Mixed European title this year with Carmen Mateo, as well as the master category in 2011, 2013, and 2015.

The double title of Franceschi and García was joined by the joy of María Correa and Teresa Sánchez-Casas, who won the youth title by finishing at the top of their category and in sixth place overall with 18 points (9, 1, 8), after a first day where they accumulated 17 points, which would eventually be their discard.

Additionally, Julia Rita and Carmen Mateo finished fifth with 15 points (1, 7, 7), while Roser Gregorio and Caterina Labiano finished tenth with 25 points (12, 4, 9), second in the youth category, achieving an excellent result for the Club Marítimo de Mahón by placing their four pairs in the top 10 and winning two of the four races held.
