CN Portitxol Celebrates a Successful 1st Balearic Sea Kayak Cup - Trofeo Portitxol

The event took place on Saturday, November 16, at Club Nàutic Portitxol (CNP). It was the first regional competition of this discipline for the 2024-2025 season and the first time the club has hosted it, thanks to the work carried out by the CNP staff with Omar Calzón at the helm, coordinator of Canoeing at CNP.

Initially planned as a "Downwind" crossing Palma Bay from the military beach of Illetas to the club, the route had to be modified due to weather conditions. The fleet made an alternative journey from CNP to the islet of la galera, located in front of Can Pastilla, and back, maintaining the original distance of 9 kilometers. The organization, backed by the Red Cross, ensured the safety of participants with resources both on land and sea.

"People were very satisfied with the competition and the organization," says Omar Calzón. "We had a spectacular day for competing, which helps to consolidate the success of this first edition," celebrates Calzón, who values that for CNP, organizing this event represented a challenge and involved meticulous planning that can undoubtedly be described as excellent.

Among the competitors, of all ages, from 14 to almost 70 years old, figures from the CNP canoeing team and veteran paddlers added excitement to a high-level day. The day concluded with the corresponding award ceremony, followed by a snack that topped off the gathering.
