CNA sailors Amalia Coll and Sean Sadler triumph in the Valencia Children's Sailing Trophy

13th November 2023 by Agencies

The Real Club Náutico de Valencia already has the new champions of the Trofeo Valencia Vela Infantil. A regatta that should have been held last September, but the regeneration works carried out at the mouth of the River Turia and throughout the Pinedo area forced the regatta to be postponed and held this Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th of November.

A successful event in terms of organization and participation, with almost 200 sailors representing 12 clubs from 4 autonomous communities: Comunitat Valenciana, Comunidad de Madrid, Baleares and Región de Murcia. Two intense days marked by good wind conditions, proving once again that the Valencia regatta course is one of the best. On Saturday the Poniente wind with 16 to 32 knots of intensity allowed two races to be completed for the A's, while the B's were left ashore without being able to compete.

In the second and last race, Sunday 12th, the wind has been a little more benevolent with the fleet, which has allowed the race committee to close three races, both for the Optimist A and B fleets. The programme closes with 5 races completed for the Optimist A and three for the B fleet, achieving a classification from which the new champions have emerged.

The favorites have been ahead and have fulfilled the podium predictions, although equality, given the high level of the fleet present in Valencia, has been the general tone. In the A's, the sailor from Club Nàutic S'Arenal, Amalia Coll won the title thanks to the 12 points obtained, after getting rid of her worst partial, marked in the second race on Sunday with a 7th place. Her other numbers were 1-1 on Saturday and she started with a 3rd place to finish with two 7th places.

As for the boys, the title goes to Jávea in the hands of Raúl Martínez (CN Jávea), with a partial victory and 14 points in his locker, just two behind the Balearic Coll. Silver in the men's category and bronze overall for the sailor from Club Nàutic S'Arenal, Sean Sadler, with 14 points in total.
