The forum, which was organized by Gaceta Náutica and held at the Port Center in Palma, brought together professionals from the nautical sector and marked "a very important step in the collective commitment to safer sailing in the waters of the Balearic Islands," said Lafuente.

The event was attended by the Director General of Merchant Marine of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Gustavo Santana, and focused on "the importance of cooperation" between public administrations, the nautical industry and the sailing community to "improve safety at sea".

The forum also opened with the words of the president of the Balearic Islands Port Authority (APB), Javier Sanz, and was attended by the director general of Ports and Maritime Transport, Antoni Mercant, and the lawyer specialising in Maritime Law, León Von Ondarza, who contributed to the debate on the role of the administrations in nautical safety.

Among the topics discussed, the forum addressed, through two presentations and two round tables, the guidelines for safe navigation, the Maritime Rescue service, the contribution of public administrations and practical measures to increase safety on board.

During his speech, Lafuente stressed "the importance of education and technology in this journey towards maritime safety", pointing out that "every tool, every initiative, is a step forward in accident prevention". "Collaboration between the authorities, the nautical industry, sailors and the community in general is essential," he added.

According to the Regional Ministry, this first Recreational Boating Safety forum has laid the foundations for future initiatives and collaborations that "seek to make the waters a safer place for everyone". "Together, let's make the waters of the Balearic Islands safe for everyone who sails them," concluded Lafuente, "echoing" the "commitment shared" by all the forum's participants.
