Mallorcan sailor Violeta del Reino, from Club de Vela Port d’Andratx, has been crowned runner-up in the Hansa 303 single-handed female category at the World Championship of Adaptive and Inclusive Sailing, held from March 23 to 30 at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club in Pittwater, Australia.

The team from Club de Vela Port d’Andratx, the only Spanish representation at the championship, traveled to Australia to accompany their athletes throughout the week. The club's presence, both technically and institutionally, reaffirms its firm commitment to adaptive sailing.

The competition, marked by changing and very demanding weather conditions, brought together athletes from 17 nationalities across four disciplines. Violeta del Reino maintained podium positions throughout the week, showcasing her consistency and excellent sailing. After the cancellation of the last day due to winds of up to 30 knots and a weather alert, the results from Saturday, March 29, were finalized, confirming her second-place world finish.

In the final standings of the Hansa 303 single-handed female category, gold went to Poland’s Olga Górnas-Grudzien, while bronze was achieved by Italy’s Alessandra Franchi, completing an internationally prestigious podium along with Mallorcan Violeta del Reino. In other disciplines, France’s Gauthier Bril was proclaimed world champion in Hansa 303 single-handed male, and the British duo of Rory McKinna and Jess Wong won the title in the Hansa 303 doubles category.

During the closing ceremony, the commodore of the RPAYC, Rob McClelland, highlighted the human and sporting value of the event: "The 2025 Hansa World Championships have concluded, and we can say this has been one of the most memorable and significant weeks in the history of the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club."
