The Emergency Service 112 of the Balearic Islands recommended this Thursday to notify the lifeguards in case of jellyfish sightings or stings, or, if there are no lifeguards on duty, to call 112 for assistance.

For instance, they advised against rubbing the affected area with hands or using towels, sand, or mud.
In any case, they advised carefully removing any filament remnants adhered to the skin using tweezers or a rigid object like a card.
Afterward, the wound should be cleaned with plenty of seawater, never freshwater, and ice should be applied to reduce inflammation and alleviate pain.
Additionally, it is warned that applying alcohol, diluted ammonia, or urine is counterproductive, contrary to common belief.
