The nautical balearic market has registered 984 registrations of leisure boats in the first nine months of 2023, according to the data “Informe del mercado de embarcaciones de recreo. January-September 2023”, published by ANEN based on data provided by the Directorate General of the Merchant Navy.

In any case, the Balearic islands continues, even though through the slow descent experimented the last months, as the province with the largest market share in the national nautical sector, accounting for 18.05% of all registrations in Spain. It is followed by Barcelona, with 10.76%, and Madrid, with 7.28%. By autonomous communities, the archipelago is in second place, second only to Catalonia, with 19.41%.
However, the report reveals that, the compilation of Spain, 64% of the total registrations between January and September corresponds to private use of boats, meanwhile 36% are ships meant for rent.
“The nautical sector faces an autumn with some data that marks the end of the season. With the focus on the momentum of the autumn boat shows, companies in the sector are focused on presenting their new products, which are undoubtedly an important stimulus to maintain demand and the appetite for sailing," says Jordi Carrasco, director general of ANEN.
