The students attending this first activity study 4th of ESO in the Santíssima Trinitat School, very close to the port, and have dedicated their learning process to the systems of construction of boats used by the Ibizan shipwrights, better known as mestres d'aixa, and to know the evolution of this type of ships equipped with lateen sail.

To do this, the students have had the opportunity to know the llaüt 'Bohemio', the oldest still sailing in the port of Sant Antoni, with a long history in its frames, and the boat 'Sant Jaume', also one of the most representative that are still active. The research developed by these students is called 'Latin Lovers', making a nod to the Latin sail that characterizes this type of boat.

Club Nàutic Sant Antoni provides training to the participants in this activity, thus contributing to the research process developed by the classrooms of secondary schools and institutes integrated in the project, which is related to biodiversity, the natural environment, culture, history and tourism in the bay of Portmany and its surroundings. After the research and learning phase, they must develop a community service project, with an informative and/or social purpose.

The high schools that have joined this second edition of the APS Badia de Portmany project are the Santíssima Trinitat high school group, and the IES Algarb, Xarc, Quartó de Portmany and Sa Serra.

APS Badia de Portmany represents an innovative formative vision that integrates the learning of contents, skills and values with the service to the community, in the same educational project. Its ultimate goal is to offer a direct service to society, to transform and improve it.

The Conselleria de Educación is responsible for advising on the process of implementing the project to all schools, promoting the development of teaching materials related to the Bay of Portmany and certifying several hours of continuing education for teachers. The CNSA, for its part, provides training and support to the participating centers, related to the knowledge and preservation of the bay. It also organizes activities and educational outings related to the values of the marine and terrestrial environment of the bay and contributes to the creation of an APS community that promotes the study, dissemination, training and development of experiences, as well as the creation of territorial networks that facilitate the conservation of the bay.

The participating centers also have several teachers assigned to the program. They are responsible for coordinating the implementation of their specific project and the organization of the work, as well as the preparation of a final report, among other tasks.
