Everything ready for the Balearic Islands Spearfishing Championship by teams

The Balearic Islands Spearfishing Championship by teams will be held on April 6 under the organization of the Balearic Federation of Underwater Activities (FBDAS). The two best clubs will get a place for the Spanish Championship in 2024.

The following 6th of April will be celebrated the Balearic Championships by teams of clubs organized by the Subaquatic Activities of the Balearic Federation (FBDAS).

The participating teams in this championship must be composed of three sailors of the same club and have a boat. During the trophy

Los equipos participantes en este campeonato deberán estar compuestos por tres deportistas del mismo club y disponer de su propia embarcación. During the trophy, which will be disputed in a single day with a maximum duration of 6 hours, only two athletes from each team can be in the water at the same time, accompanied at all times by a single buoy.

The area delimited for the competition is from Punta Na Galinda to the beach of Santa Ponsa. For weather reasons, the location could be changed to the reserve area, which includes the bay of Alcudia, from Cap de Menorca to Cala Fonda. 

At 8 o'clock in the morning the participants will gather at the ramp of Puerto de Andratx to get the numbered bags of wires. Once the delivery is finished, the contestants will head to the starting point. 

At 9 a.m. the competition will officially begin, at which time the fishermen will have to start catching as many bony fish as possible, except for sunfish, due to their special protection, cartilaginous fish, and sea spiders and frigatebirds, due to their dangerousness.   

At 3 pm the competition will end and the participants will proceed to deliver their catches, again at the ramp of Puerto de Andratx. All fish caught during the day will be donated for consumption to an association. So the catches must be kept in optimal storage conditions. 

At 5.30 p.m., after lunch, the species caught by each team will be weighed and the trophies will be awarded. The two clubs that obtain the best classification will obtain a place to compete in the Spanish Championship in 2024. 

The registration period will close on March 31st. However, the teams that have not formalized the registration in time and wish to participate, may do so by presenting the necessary documentation on the day of the event and paying a fee of 40 euros.
