The Federation has taken advantage of this meeting to reiterate its request that all environmental issues; rules, regulations, management plans, ... are made following technical and scientific criteria, and not with the discretionality that has been done in past legislatures. The organization states: "Positions such as those that have marked environmental management recently, based on prohibition and ideology, create disaffection in the users of the sea".
Furthermore, they add that seeing published in the BOIB regulations and prohibitions such as: "the effect of the shadow of the boats that reduces the luminosity that reaches the posidonia"(BOIB17016December2023), or "to avoid turbulence on the sediments, the use of jet skis is prohibited" (BOIB3621March2023), in a port area where all types of boats can and should sail, This is a step backwards in terms of public awareness of marine environmental issues, given the discretionary nature with which the Administration treats them, and at the same time says very little about the seriousness and rigor of the Balearic Environment Commission, and calls for swift and thorough action to be taken.
For his part, the Councillor for the Sea has assured that he is aware of these problems, and defends that "it is possible to care for the marine environment by combining its preservation and its recreational use".
