On Monday, July 8th, the 2nd Environmental Communication Event of the Federation of Nautical Associations and Activities for Environmental Issues (FANMED) took place at Club Nàutic S’Arenal. FANMED comprises various associations covering the entire spectrum of the nautical sector in the Balearic Islands.

He was joined by other key figures and representatives from the nautical sector, as well as public administration officials. The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Natural Environment, Joan Simonet, inaugurated the event, leading into the two scheduled panel discussions.
“This event showcased the level of commitment from the Federation and the entire nautical sector towards the environment, and their pursuit of solutions always based on scientific evidence. At the same time, the presence of high-ranking officials and leading figures from various areas of the nautical sector reflects the good work of the organization, which has successfully garnered support for its initiatives from key stakeholders,” Vaquer remarked. He emphasized the “cordial atmosphere throughout the meeting, presenting a much-needed image of unity in defense of the environment.”
The first panel, titled Marine Conservation, featured Antonio Grau, Director General of Fisheries; Gotzon Basterretxea, Director of IMEDEA; Debora Morrison, Director of the Palma Aquarium Foundation; and Bernadí Alba, President of the Mallorcan Association for Responsible Recreational Fishing. The second panel, focused on Environmental Education, included Anna Torres, Director General of Natural Environment and Forest Management; Mar Comín, Director of IB3TV; Pilar Carretero, Director of the Almas Marinas Foundation; and Ferran Muniesa, Manager of CN Arenal. The event concluded with a speech by Gabriel Dols, President of FANMED.
