The Sant Antoni de Portmany Town Hall, in collaboration with the Sant Antoni Fishermen's Guild, the Consell d’Eivissa, Peix Nostrum, and Ports IB, organizes this Saturday, March 29, a new edition of the 'Fira del Peix i del Marisc d’Eivissa,' a gastronomic event that "promotes the consumption of local fish and pays tribute to the fishing tradition of our municipality," explain the municipal authorities through a statement.

The event was presented yesterday, March 25, at 12 PM, next to the fishermen's pier on Passeig de la Mar, attended by the councilor for Local Economic Development, Miguel Tur; the councilor for the Primary Sector, Miguel Ángel Costa; the president of the Sant Antoni fishermen's guild, José Castelló, along with various members of the guild, and the president of the Associació Artesanal de Portmany, Carmen Núñez.
The fair will be held on the Passeig de la Mar, starting from the fishermen's pier, and will feature five food stalls offering tapas for 5 euros and special portions for 9 euros, with "traditional Ibizan recipes and innovative dishes prepared with fresh seafood." Additionally, there will be a special stall from the Fishermen's Guild, where they will prepare various tapas, as well as an informational table from Ibiza Sabors.
In the meals that will be prepared, a wide variety of fresh products will be used with the goal of "providing an outlet for seasonal fish and seafood, primarily including Ibizan shrimp, gerret, cuttlefish, or rockfish," states the release. There will also be a gerret grill, a fish characteristic of the island, and live cooking demonstrations by various local establishments.
The fair not only offers gastronomy but also activities for the whole family. There will be a craft market with nine stalls from the Associació Artesanal de Portmany, a children's area with face painting and inflatable castles, and live musical performances. From 1:30 to 3:30 PM, we will enjoy music by the group La Calle, and from 3:30 to 6 PM, the atmosphere will be enlivened by Dj Kevin.
Miguel Tur, the councilor for Local Economic Development, highlighted that “this fair is a unique opportunity to discover and taste seasonal local fish, giving visibility to the Peix Nostrum brand,” commented Tur, who explained that “the day aims to raise awareness and value the work of the fishing sector and the guilds.”
For his part, José Castelló, president of the Sant Antoni guild, highlighted that “we will cook with the fish caught that same morning” and encouraged the entire population to come to the promenade and taste the local product.
