Mahon Waters Decide the Best Paddlers of the Balearic Islands

This weekend, the Winter Canoeing Championship of the Balearic Islands, Trophy Day of the Balearic Islands, was held in the port of Maó in Menorca, organized by the Club Marítimo de Mahón, in collaboration with the Balearic Canoeing Federation.

On Saturday, representatives of the Senior, Sub23, and Junior categories competed on a 5,000-meter circuit, while Sunday was the turn for the Young Promises, facing 5,000 meters for cadets, 3,000 for children, 2,000 for younger children, and 1,000 for pre-children and children. Two very intense days with athletes from all clubs across the archipelago, took place under optimal weather conditions, with good temperatures and no wind or waves.

On Junior canoe 5000, Alvaro Nahuel Vera from RCN Port de Pollença won, followed by Rubén Carrillo from RCN Palma, and Joan Albis from RCN Port de Pollença. In the women's category, Maria Antonia Segura from RCN Port de Pollença won, followed by her club mate, Belén López.

In Paracanoe, 3000 meters, Isaac Pons from CN Villacarlos was the winner, while in sub-23 C1 5000 meters Iván Carreras from CN Villacarlos was the fastest.

In the kayak, in the senior K1 5000 meters, Vinca Escandell was first, achieving this victory for the eighth consecutive time, and Dion López second, both from Club Marítimo de Mahón, with James Ftizsimmons from RCN Palma third. In the women's category, the victory also went to Mahón with Raquel Carbajo winning, followed by Cristina Ulldemolins from CM Mahón. The podium was completed by Inés Ramo from CN Villacarlos.

In sub-23 K1 5000 meters, Marc Sánchez won followed by Joan Rosselló, both from RCN Palma, while Alexander Manzanares from Es Nàutic Sant Antoni completed the podium. In the women's part, Carla Vey from RCN Palma was the fastest followed by the Mahon sisters Claudia Vidal and Alma Rabinerson.

In the junior K1 5000 meters women's category, Ana Carreras from Club Marítimo de Mahón prevailed over Blanca Jaume from RCN Palma and María Gallego from CN Sant Antoni. In men, a triplet for Es Nàutic. The fastest was Lázaro Noel López, followed by Raúl Prendes and Álvaro Rubio.

In veterans, the winner was Alexis Olivier Capdevila from Club Marítimo de Mahón, followed by Omar Calzón from CN Portitxol, and Javier Iñarrea from RCN Palma. In the women's category, the fastest was Jane Parry from CN Port de Pollença, ahead of two athletes from CM Mahón, Pilar Borrás and Violant Menorca.

The championship of Young Promises took place entirely on Sunday also at the old Maritime Station, and like Saturday, the canoe athletes were the first to compete.

In Alevín A, over 2000 meters, Víctor Torres was the fastest, followed by Simón Murga and Anas Bellahcen, from RCN Port de Pollença. Valentina Claridge from RCN Port de Pollença was the winner.

In Infantil A, over 3000 meters, Izan Fernández from RCN Palma was first, flanked on the podium by Lluc Ferrer and Alexis Kilian Faass, both from RCN Port de Pollença. In the women's category, Alemendra Murga was the fastest followed by her teammate at RCN Port de Pollença, Catalina Tejeira. In Infantil B, Martina Vera, also from Pollença, was the fastest, while in men, Carlos González from RCN Palma prevailed, ahead of Sergi Mayol and Alessandro Eleuterio, both from RCN Port de Pollença.

In Cadete A, over 5000 meters, the best was Marton Vegh from RCN Palma, while Marta Ramos from RCN Port de Pollença and Celia González from RCN Palma; in B, the fastest was Leo Lukas Faas, followed by Alejo Mallada and Jan Pagmar, all from RCN Port de Pollença. In women, the victory went to Elisenda Cerdá followed by Marina Soares and Ariadna Cañero, all from RCN Port de Pollença.

In K1, the first to compete together were the pre-children and children over 1000 meters. In the women's category, the victory went to Aura Llobet from CN Sant Antoni, followed by Zaira Cabezas from Club Vela Port d’Andratx. In the men's competition, Daniel Cortes from CM Mahón prevailed over Marc Pujol and Sam Sánchez, both from Club Vela Port d’Andratx.

In Benjamines, Martina Santandreu from RCN Palma won the A competition, while Paula Baldo from RCN Palma was the fastest ahead of Isabel Dosil from Club Vela Port d’Andratx, and Zoe Álvarez from CN Sant Antoni, in the B competition. In men, Gabriel Mora from CM Mahón won over Oriol Alemany from Club Vela Port d’Andrat

In the Junior A category, the victory went to Pablo Aguayo from Club Vela Port d’Andratx, in a tight duel against Pablo Cayarga from CM Mahón. His club mate, Leonardo Pons Roca, came in third. In B, the athlete from CM Mahón, Jaime Montañés, won ahead of Anthony Arias from RCN Port de Pollença, and Atay Kikozashvili from CN Sant Antoni. Adriana González from CM Mahón was the winner in A, followed by Sofia Schmidt from Club Vela Port d’Andratx, and also from Mahón, Carla Llorca. In B, Mónica Domínguez from RCN Palma took the victory ahead of Aina Roselló from CN Sant Antoni, and Sofia Baldo from RCN Palma.

In Cadet A, Joan Ginard from RCN Palma was the fastest over 5000 meters, ahead of Albert Gomis from RCN Portopetro, and Pablo Velasco from CN Santa Eularia des Riu. In the B competition, Fidel Griffiths from CN Santa Eularia des Riu was the fastest, followed by Max Mulet from Club de Mar, and Bruno Pons from CM Mahón. In women A, Paula Pericas from RCN Portopetro was the fastest, finishing ahead of Alba Fernández from Club Vela Port d’Andratx, and Candela Madrigal from CN Sant Antoni. In B, Ariadna Jaume from RCN Palma was the best, ahead of the athlete from CN Ciutadella, Berta Sans, and Claudia Cook from CM Mahón.

In children A, Pep Alemany from Club Vela Port d’Andratx was the best ahead of the duo from CM Mahón, Pol Tárrega and Aingeru Salaverria, while in B, also over 3000 meters, Nacho Amenos from RCN Palma took the win ahead of Gabriel Thibaut from RCN Palma, and Felipe Aita from CN Santa Eularia des Riu. In women, Lara Ribas from CN Sant Antoni won the A trial ahead of Carla Fiol from RCN Palma, and Aina Teresa Pallas from CM Mahón, while the B competition was dominated by Julia Roselló from CN Sant Antoni, who finished ahead of Hannah Cook from CM Mahón, and Olivia Iñarrea from RCN Palma.
