The Mallorca Maritime Museum will reopen this summer, and for the first time, it will do so with a new exhibition project. DID YOU LIKE THIS CONTENT? WELL... YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!It is worth recalling that in January 2024, the facility was ordered to close after it was discovered that the fire hoses were not connected, posing a serious risk.
From the insular department of Culture, it has been explained that the issue with the hose connections has been resolved thanks to inter-institutional collaboration, while a usage agreement with the City of Palma for the premises has been signed and entered into effect.
The vice president and insular councilor of Culture, Antònia Roca, has regretted the criticism from the socialists regarding the closure of the facility, insisting that it was decided upon for safety reasons. "Previously, everything was open to the public without safety measures, with children and elderly people constantly in the museum," she pointed out.
The insular institution has insisted that during the time the museum was closed, work has continued and it has been "one of the department's priorities." They are pleased that "what was ignored in the previous two legislatures has been resolved within a year."
