Mallorcan Paddlers Elena Reolid and Josep Cifre Among the World's Best in Ocean Kayaking

The Spanish ocean kayaking team competed in the ICF Ocean Racing Championship on the Portuguese island of Madeira.

A paradisiacal setting for an event marked in red for the national team composed of 12 paddlers, among them Josep Cifre from Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx, and Elena Reolid from Club de Mar, who were selected based on the results obtained during 2024.

The world championship set a participation record, as it featured competitors from all five continents. Spain was the second nation with the most participation at the event, with 90 boats representing the country in both single and double vessels.

The paddler from Club de Vela Puerto Andratx, Josep Cifre, and Elena Reolid from Club de Mar, covered 21.50 kilometers navigating the waves of the Atlantic Ocean, in a grueling Ocean Kayaking test with strong headwinds. Cifre completed the crossing in just over an hour and a half, finishing ninth in the general classification of the under-23 category. Reolid also entered the world Top10 and finished the competition in tenth place. Both competed together in the mixed double category, making a tremendous effort that placed them sixth overall.
