The group, which includes Olympic, World and European champions, and which will compete from October 5th to the 13th in Barcelona, was presented at an event attended by Albert Bertrán, executive director of Port Sitges; Guillermo Altadill, technical director of the Sail Team; and Aurora Carbonell, mayoress of Sitges.

"I think we are up to the task of such a prestigious event, and of course, ready to help the young and female Spanish team on this historic road to the America's Cup. We are delighted to be pioneers and to support the Spanish team that will compete in the first women's competition in the history of the Cup," said Bertrán.

Sail Team BCN, which will represent the RCN Barcelona, was born in May 2022 thanks to the personal impulse of the 61-year-old transoceanic sailor Guillermo Altadill.

His proposal had the full support of Grant Dalton, general manager of America's Cup Events, organizers of the 37th America's Cup in Barcelona, as he felt that these teams would arouse interest in the event among Spanish fans.

The team's base will be located in September 2023 at Port de Sitges Aigualdolç. There, within a radius of 200 meters, the offices, the AC40 simulator, the team's containers, the premises where the four support boats will be stored and the work container were installed. All next to the GC32, the boat with which they have been training.

In addition, they were given several apartments and rooms in the Port Sitges hotel, so that the team members did not have to leave the port premises at any time.

Since then, the team has already held seven training camps and has had around forty sailors eligible for the women's team and the youth team.

"Now, the intention is to rent an AC40 for forty days to be able to train, and we are already talking to the teams that already have the two AC40s in Barcelona, because I think 40 days is enough for our people to get used to the boat," explained Altadill.
