Ibiza JoySail aims to have performance boats at the highest level, but also cruising boats that are going to enjoy and share the experiences of people who love the sea. That is why the owners also play an important role in this philosophy. And among them we find the Corinthian, whose spirit is to sail in cruising conditions, without disembarking materials, with the original sails and a limited number of professionals on board.

The combination of professional crews with other more amateur crews is another of the Ibiza JoySail's bets, which make it a differential regatta.

In the first edition of the Ibiza JoySail in 2021, five boats were registered, in the second edition in 2022 there were eleven and in this third edition in 2023 there are already fourteen boats.

Of all the participants, Dark Horse (Swan 80) is one of the greatest ambassadors of this regatta philosophy, having participated since the first edition, first with a very small team of five crew members, without prepared sails and being the first regatta in which it participated. The owner of Dark Horse has enjoyed it so much that he has bought new sails and in this third edition he is also doing so with eleven professionals, and now he is not sailing in Corinthian but in Performance Cruising, to the point that he is the leader in the Performance Cruising division, followed by Prevail (Tripp 90) and Shambo (Y7 70), which is the first Corinthian.

In Performance, the class with the largest participation, it has two Swan 115 twins, the Moat and the Jasi, which occupy the first and second positions. Third overall and first Corinthian is Kiboko (SW 105). The Aragon (SW 94) is the other Corinthian in the group of larger boats.

As for the sea, this Friday was not looking good in terms of weather. The powerful anticyclone that is affecting the entire Mediterranean arc suggested that it would not be easy, but the Race Committee with Gaspar Morey and Pablo Ferrer knew how to take advantage to have the entire fleet on the water at 13 hours, and thus take advantage of the only window that opened when 5 knots blew sustained to give, first, the start to the J Class and then to the Superyachts late in the afternoon.

The course was placed between the islands of Ibiza and Formentera, with a total of 5.88 miles with a buoy start, return to the island of Espardell, the J Class did one more leg while the Superyachts finished just after turning the islet because of the danger of falling wind, which was throughout the test blowing gently between 4 and 6 knots of east component, allowing them to finish the test.

The last race is scheduled for this Saturday in Pitiusas waters, followed by the prize-giving ceremony which will take place at 18:00 hours in Marina Ibiza.
