This month of September, when calm begins to return to the bay of Portmany, the Club Nàutic Sant Antoni (CNSA) has resumed the Open Adults Windsurfing activity.

Among the participants, there are two extraordinary women, who have shown once again that sport does not have an age and specially windsurf, that offers the possibility to enjoy a direct connection with the sea. We are talking about Montse Cirera and María Rodríguez, both retired, and of 73 and 67 years old , respectively.

Before starting the lessons the monitor of the CNSA and current champion of Spain and of the Balearic Islands, Oren del Álamo, asked to take a test to determine their level in order to participate in the activity, demonstrating what they are capable of. Montse hadn't been on a board for 40 years, but she showed that she hasn't forgotten her technique, being able to surf without falling off. María, on the other hand, had to work harder to stay on her feet, something she finally managed to do, which she herself described as a success.

Both are very active people and are willing to do anything, and soon they are planning to make a route by bicycle between Valencia and Teruel, crossing a greenway. They also tend to go skiing, practice running and they are always up for anything when it comes to sport. "At least as long as the body holds out," they say.

The past month, Montse assisted a sailing activity ‘Eivissa en Gran’, which was celebrated at Es Nàutic, and María was one of the kayakers that participated in the XXII edition of the Día de la Piragua, the pst 9th of September. When they visited Es Nàutic during those two days, they found out about the windsurfing activity for adults and suggested to the Club's instructors that they should try it out beforehand. Their proposal was accepted and, after demonstrating what they are made of as competitive sports women, they both highlighted the involvement of the CNSA technicians in motivating and encouraging them to sail on a windsurfing board.

Montse and María's attitude and vitality are a magnificent example of how, if the physical condition is good, older people also have the opportunity to sail and enjoy nautical activities, which are open to everyone, young and old alike. Sailing, canoeing and windsurfing, in short, have no age limit at Club Nàutic Sant Antoni.
