The claim is not without reason given the spectacular setting in which the test will take place. The routes for the 19 planned races for about 325 participants will be in front of the old Maritime Station, where special stands will be set up so the public can follow an event that will take place this Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, starting at 11:00 a.m.
The organization, run by the Club Marítimo de Mahón and the Balearic Canoeing Federation, has designated Saturday, February 22, as the day for the junior, senior, and veteran championship with 104 registrants, while Sunday, February 23, will be the turn of the younger categories, with 225 participants. The activity will take place between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., on both days. The entities taking part are CN Ciutadella, CN Sant Antoni, CN Santa Eularia des Riu, CN Villacarlos, CP Parc de la Mar, Club de Mar, Club de Vela Port d’Andratx, CN Portitxol, RCN Palma, RCN Port de Pollença and RCN Portopetro, in addition to CM Mahón as organizer.
The event, which is the winter championship on the occasion of 'Dia de les Illes Balears', will also feature live entertainment with music and a DJ, as well as a bar area with drinks and food, so that fans who come can fully enjoy a spectacle on all levels that also has the collaboration of the Consell Insular de Menorca, the City Council of Maó, and the Balearic Port Authority.
On Saturday, starting at 12:00 p.m., the junior, senior, and sub-23 male and female canoe races will be held, as well as the K1 paracanoe. At 12:45 p.m., it will be the turn of the K1 Sub-23 and senior male, at 1:30 p.m. it will be the time for the K1 junior, sub-23, senior, and veteran female. At 2:15 p.m., the junior male K1 championship will start and the K1 Veteran will close the day, followed by the trophy presentation.
Sunday, February 23, will open the competition with C1 cadet, junior, and novice male and female at 12:00 p.m., at 12:40 p.m. will row K1 youngest and pre-youngest, as well as C1, and at 12:50 p.m. will be the K1 cadet male. Then, at 2:30 p.m. will be the turn of the K1 junior male, while at 2:50 p.m. it will be the female cadet participants. At 3:20 p.m. will be the novice male, at 3:40 p.m. the junior female and at 4:00 p.m. the competition will close with the novice female. Finally, at 4:30 p.m. there will be the medal presentation.
