The season ends with the ClubSwan and as well another year of successes for the crew of “Nadir” and its mallorcan shipowner and skipper Pedro Vauquer, who are claimed champions of The Nations League 2023 of the class ClubSwan 42, a circuit for boats od class Swan composed by three races (Swan Sardinia Challenge, Nation Trophy and Copa del Rey MAPFRE).
STAY UP TO DATE OF WHAT WE DO AND RECEIVE OUR NEWSLETTERAfter finishing the 2022 with the triple crown (Rolex Swan Cup, Copa del Rey MAPFRE and Swan One Design Worlds), the crew of “Nadir” of Pedro Vaquer (Club de Vela Puerto Andratx), faced 2023 with enthusiasm and excitement to reevaluate their achieved titles from the past season.
This way, the World Champion of the category ClubSwan 42 in 2022, started the year with what would be for them a training regatta prior to the start of the ClubSwan circuit season, the PalmaVela, where they added another title to their list of honors by reaching the podium in the ORC class.
After the first victory, the crew of “Nadir” initiated the circuit winning the Swan sardinia Challenge, that was competed in May at Cerdeña, revalidating their title obtained in 2022.
A month later it was time to compete in The Nations Trophy, a biennial regatta for Swan class boats held in Porto Cervo. On that occasion, once again, Petro Vaquer's "Nadir" reached the podium, being runner-up in the competition due to a jury penalty, which proclaimed the Italian boat "Mela" the winner.
All that remained for "Nadir" was the final challenge in Scarlino, on the Tuscan coast of Italy, where the World Cup was at stake and the winners of The Nations League 2023 were crowned. The fight for the world title was fiercely contested until the very last moment. The winner of the Swan One Design Worlds in the ClubSwan 42 class was decided by a single point of difference with Andrea Rossi's "Mela" ahead of Adriano Majolino's "Canopo", leaving "Nadir" in fourth position, with no chance of retaining the title won in 2022.
Despite this result, the crew of "Nadir" won The Nations League 2023 season title in the ClubSwan 42 class after finishing first in the Swan Sardinia Challenge, second in The Nations Trophy and first in the Copa del Rey MAPFRE. "This season has been a great success for us and the whole crew is very happy," says José Ramón Picó, navigator of "Nadir", who recalls that they have been on the podium every time for the last two years and "now it's time to prepare for the 2024 season, which we are already working on with great enthusiasm and excitement," he adds.
In addition to being the winner of the circuit in its class for the second consecutive year, "Nadir" was awarded last month in Baiona with the Terras Gauda National Sailing Award for the best boat of the year.
