The race is an evolution from the Regata Vuelta a Ibiza and Formentera - Trofeos Jabeque de Oro and Jabeque de Plata- that started in the year 1974 and that the participants had to go around the islands of Ibiza and formentera or only the island of Ibiza, depending on the length of the ship. That competition meant the beginning of the organization of cruise sailing by the Club Náutico Ibiza.

From 1989 they searched for a new focus on the competition combining sports and recreational aspects as we know it nowadays and it re-named to Jornadas Náuticas Pitiusas.

This year marks its thirty-fourth edition and throughout its successive celebrations it has seen its prestige and popularity recognised, with around 35 boats currently taking part. Proof of the impact that the event has on the nautical world is the attendance of the sailors coming from different ports of the Mediterranean coast, as well as English, Irish, Norwegian, Italian, German, Russian and Finnish sailors.

The regatta is currently called Copa RANC (Real Asociación Nacional de Cruceros) Zona Baleares. And it will gather during three days the celebration of the Jornadas Náuticas, a total of 200 sailors and 35 boats which will be at the ports of Eivissa and Sant Antoni, linking the two most important ports on the island of Ibiza.

The outing of the first race is planned for Friday 13th of October at 10 o’clock and consists of a route starting in Eivissa, rounding the island of Formentera to starboard and arriving back in Eivissa, with a sailing distance of approximately 41 miles.

Saturday 14th of October, at 10.30h the sailors will depart from Ibiza in direction to Sant Antoni, leaving the island of Ibiza on port side, with a distance of  33 miles.

Sunday 15th of October, third and last day of the competition, the departure will be done at 10.00h from Sant Antoni, rounding Sa Conillera on the port side and arriving at Ibiza, with a distance of 26.5 miles.

The organization is runned by the Club Náutic Ibiza and is composed by a team of about 20 people attending the race, among them are judges, weather condition measurer, lifeguards, buoy markers and club staff.
