Nit de la Vela Concludes Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita's Summer Festivities

Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita concluded its Summer Festivities this Sunday with an emotional and sport-filled "Nit de la Vela."

After an intense weekend of activities including theater, a members' dinner and party, and children's activities, the first-ever "Nit de la Vela," a gala recognizing sporting achievements, celebrated the efforts of the club’s sailors.

Over 250 people, including authorities, club staff, sailors, awardees, families, and friends, attended this inaugural Nit de la Vela. The event began promptly at 8 PM, offering a festive and family-friendly atmosphere. Attendees enjoyed the sunset in Sa Ràpita while celebrating the club’s sporting achievements.

Notable authorities attended the event, led by the President of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, along with Francisca Porquer, Mayor of Campos, Cati Darder, President of the Balearic Sailing Federation (FBV), and Pau Lladó, President of CNR, who presented the evening's main awards in recognition of the sailors' efforts during the 2023 season.

The gala, divided into two segments and hosted by Mallorcan journalist Mar Floria, honored the achievements of the club's cruiser and dinghy class sailors. CNR President Pau Lladó emphasized the "competitiveness and passion of the crews and boats" participating in the year-round social Saturday regattas and other cruiser class competitions hosted by the club, where sailors consistently demonstrate their commitment to sailing, overcoming various weather conditions for their unique passion.

The "Nit de la Vela" also highlighted the achievements of Nacho Baltasar, selected by the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation (RFEV) to represent Spain in the current Paris Olympic Games, making him the first athlete from the club to compete in the Olympics, specifically in the IQ Foil class. Although Nacho is training in Marseille and could not attend, a video about him and a message he sent to the club members were shown.

Neus Ballester, a sailor with international titles in the 470 class, was also honored. She expressed her "pride in being part of CNR" during her speech.

An exciting video about the upcoming Junior IQ Foil World Championship, which CNR will host in October, was also shown. This event is a significant milestone for the club, solidifying its status as a global leader in dinghy sailing, thanks to the outstanding efforts of its Sailing Section.

Javier Hernández was awarded as well, as he bids farewell to competition after an excellent 2023 season with notable performances in local, regional, national, European, and world championships. Ramón Villalonga was recognized for his teamwork within the club's IQ Foil team, and Lluís Pérez was honored for his competitiveness and determination.

This gala concluded a festive program that began on Friday, July 12, with a play by the beloved Pometes Teatre company. On Saturday, July 13, a special viewing was held. At the end of 2023, members were asked to share images and experiences related to Sa Ràpita and CNR from the club's nearly 50-year history. These were compiled into a unique audiovisual documentary produced by Nautimedia Comunicación, which attendees enjoyed during one of the most emotional moments of the festivities. The evening continued with a members' party featuring a bar service and music from various eras.

On the morning of Sunday, July 14, children enjoyed a water party with inflatable castles, pools, popcorn, and a special guest from the Paw Patrol, while adults sampled a selection of vermouths.

The CNR Summer Festivities concluded with the 1st Nit de la Vela. Along with a festive family gathering, members, friends, and supporters of the club celebrated the Spanish national football team's victory in the Euro 2024 together.
