The cleaning boats of the coastline of the Sea and Water Cycle Council have extracted a total of 5,263 kilos of waste in September in the Balearic Islands.

In total, they have removed 3.869 kilos of waste with beach boats and 1.394 kilos with coastline boats.
In Mallorca there was extracted 3.295 kilos, in Menorca 1.114 kilos, in Ibiza 588 kilos and in Formentera 265 kilos. Plastic has been the predominant material with a 50,26%, followed by wood with 25,62% and dead vegetation with a 12,26%.
In relation to the special actions, Mallorca has extracted pieces of boats, a hammock and multiple paddles. In Menorca they located a plastic canister and a drifting boat. In Ibiza they intervened in a dispersion of oil and fuels, in addition to extracting several branches; while in Formentera they recovered a canister full of oil and attended to a dispersion of hydrocarbons.
As for the warnings received during September, the Regional Ministry of the Sea dealt with a total of five. Of these, four were managed in collaboration with the 112 Emergency Service and Maritime Rescue, and one was reported by institutions and individuals.
These actions bring to an end the 2023 clean-up campaign, which began last June and which worked until 30 September to keep our coastline clean.
