Port Authority of the Balearic Islands opens the doors of the port of Palma

The next Saturday 30th of September, the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands will open the doors to the port of Palma with a journey “Viu el port”. An event full of activities and workshops for all the family the aim is to bring the sea closer to the whole of Mallorcan society.

Thus, the sea, the Balearic nautical and port are the main protagonists of this Open Day organized by the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands , and in which there will be a host of activities throughout the day in different locations near the port of Palma.

The assistants will be able, among other things, visit the Museo del Castillo de San Carlos or the Museo Marítimo de Mallorca, participate in environment workshops, learn how to make marine knots, get to know the Oceanographic Vessel of the SOCIB located at the Lonja dock or even go aboard the Balear, a lateen sail fishing llaüt almost 100 years old.

Furthermore, during this journey it is offered the opportunity to the citizens to get to know first hand the remodeling project of the Paseo Marítimo of Palma, in the talk where it will be hosted at the headquarters of the APB, or discover the work that the port police performs. One will also be able to visit the facilities where some of the most spectacular superyachts in the world are repaired and maintained.

OF course, in the family event there is space for music, dance and as well cinema. At the Golondrinas Dock there will be different performances of music styles  and activities for children. The Old Dock will welcome the Mallorca Surf Film Festival, with the projection of “Savage Waters”.

Moreover, in its eagerness to promote the sustainability movement, the port entity encourages everybody that is interested in assisting in the journey the public transport, cycling, scooter, or including swimming, given the closeness to different activities.
