Porto Cristo makes the maritime and cultural heritage known with an open doors day

On the 20th and 21st of April, Porto Cristo will hold an open day which promotes the maritime and cultural heritage of the locality with activities for all audiences.

From 10am until 7pm, visitors will be able to enjoy an exhibition of the 'La Balear' ox boat, a cultural symbol which has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest by the Council of Mallorca. They will also be able to explore a collection of models of traditional boats and other materials, as well as an exhibition of tools and boats by the 'Mestre d'Àixa' Sebastià Vidal Jaume. Other attractions include an exhibition of fishing 'ormejos' and a photographic exhibition entitled 'Terrestrial and underwater wonders of our coastline', courtesy of the Perlas Manacor Club.

Nautical enthusiasts will find a wide range of boats on display, including rental and second-hand boats, as well as special activities at the Skualo Porto Cristo Diving Centre, with exclusive discounts for visitors.

For the little ones, the PEIXOS play park will offer guaranteed fun for the little ones, whilst craft lovers will be able to enjoy a street market on the Cap des Toll promenade.

For those interested in environmental issues, there will be a workshop on posidonia and microplastics in the sea, organized by the Manacor Municipal Services Company (SAM). They will also be able to discover the rich local underwater heritage through a talk on 'The wreck of Ses Llumetes' and a special visit to the Coves dels Hams with discounts for the day's visitors.

The first Open Doors day will culminate with the  ‘Vela por la ELA’, cruise regatta, organized by the CNPC, followed by an afternoon of partying and solidarity with the 'Tardeo Vela por la ELA', sponsored by Hospital Parque Levante.

On Sunday, the activities continue with a 'Rueta Marinera', where participants are invited to dress up with a marine theme, and a special face painting with the same theme, by Tres Patas. In addition, the little ones will also be able to enjoy a musical storyteller entitled 'Pere y el peixet cautivo. An underwater adventure', presented by the Adagio Music School of Cala de Oro and the Asociación Cultural se Hiedra de se Alquería Blanca.
