Porto Cristo will host the III Malen Sart Championship

The Balearic Federation of Underwater Activities (FBDAS) is organizing the 3rd round of the Majorca Championship and the Women's Balearic Championship, III Malen Sart Championship, on the 1st of May in Porto Cristo.

The two championships will be held individually during a single day which will last a maximum of 5 hours. In addition, the 3rd round of the Championship of Mallorca, which is part of the Circuit of Mallorca, will be valid for the classification in the Championship of the Balearic Islands.

The participants, who can register until the 24th of April, must catch as many species as possible, as the points will be awarded according to quantity, quality, variety and weight. It is forbidden to fish for sunfish, due to their special protection; cartilaginous fish, and sea spiders and frigate birds, due to their dangerousness; and fishing for groupers will be limited to a maximum of two.

At 7.30am the ramp of the Club Nàutic Porto Cristo will be opened for the boats to get into the water. Once ready, the numbered wires will be handed out. 

At 9 a.m. the competition will start in the limited fishing zone, which is located between (39.53784 N, 3.34069 E) and the Mirador del Cap del Pinar and its respective marks to the East. In the event of adverse weather conditions, the initial zone will be changed to the reserve zone, which includes the points of Son Serra de Marina and Caló dels Ermitans. In this case, the competition would be carried out by swimming, with the athletes starting from the shore.

Once the competition is over at 2 p.m., the catches will be handed over to the club. And after the group lunch at Ca'n Toni Restaurant, at 16.30h the weigh-in will take place and, finally, the trophies will be awarded, including the David Martorell Trophy for the highest number of species.
