Porto Petro will host the X Solidarity Championship ComoPeces of Spearfishing

On March the 1st will take place in the waters of Porto Petro the X Solidarity Championship ComoPeces Spearfishing - Memorial Enrique Haro. The meeting will include the first day of the individual Championship of Mallorca 2024, the Championship of the Balearic Islands Under 23 and the Championship of the Balearic Islands Veterans, organized by the Balearic Federation of Underwater Activities (FBDAS) and the ComoPeces Club. All proceeds will be donated to S.O.S. Mamás Baleares for charity.

"It is one of the best known spearfishing competitions in the Balearic Islands and even on an international scale due to the large number of fishermen who participate, around fifty. It is one of the most numerous competitions of this sport at the level of individual competition," says José Morey, president of the ComoPeces Club.

"The first day of the Circuit de Mallorca is the first of three rounds that will count for the classification in the Balearic Championship," adds Joan Mas, president of the FBDAS.

"Beyond the sporting, it is a party and a moment of encounter between lovers of sport fishing. There is always a very good atmosphere. After the competition, we will have a torrada and raffle spearfishing equipment provided by our partners. Also, as a novelty, this year we will have an exhibition of all kinds of material related to this sport", he emphasizes.

The meeting will start at 8h in the morning, when the participants will gather at the starting points to swim or at the ramp of the Club Náutico de Porto Petro, depending on the chosen modality.

The starting swimming points will be at Sa Barca Trencada, Cala Egos and Cala Serena, and the area of the competition will be between the coordinates 39º 23' 38.85" N 3º 15' 14.44" E and 39º23'38.832"N 3º24'18.432"E to the north(corresponding to Cala Sa Nau) and 39º 20' 38.07" N 3º 11' 23.04" E and 39º20'38.04"N 3º24'18.432"E to the south (area of Solimina). If for weather reasons the competition has to be held in the reserve area (Bay of Pollença), the participants will be informed during the technical meeting.

The competition will start at 9 a.m. and will last until 2 p.m., when the catches will be handed in. Afterwards, a lunch will be held at the Centre Cívic es Llombards, after which the weigh-in and trophy presentation will take place.
