PortsIB has authorized 142 base berths for seventh list vessels for the year 2024, a figure that doubles the 58 berths assigned in 2023. This expansion highlights the agency's commitment to a more agile and efficient management of port resources, with the goal of responding to the sector's demand.
DID YOU LIKE THIS CONTENT? WELL... YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!The increase was achieved thanks to a significant expansion of the initial offer. While 126 berths were proposed in 2023, by 2024 the total offer reached 292, of which 142 have already been awarded and authorized. This quantitative leap reflects a firm commitment to the improvement of public infrastructure and to promoting access to the public ports of the archipelago.
Looking ahead, the agency is already working on the allocations planned for 2025. A new offer of berths is contemplated in locations such as Andratx, Sant Elm, Banyalbufar, and Ciutadella, in addition to the incorporation of the Port of Cala Ratjada, where a new distribution plan is being finalized to optimize spaces.
In parallel, allocation processes will be reopened in those ports where there are still berths available. Among these are Sant Antoni de Portmany, Colònia de San Jordi, S'Oberta, Fornells, and Es Barcarès, a fact that will open new opportunities for users who were unable to access in previous calls.
With this set of measures, PortsIB reaffirms its commitment to sustainable growth in the recreational nautical sector, a fundamental pillar for the economic and social development of the Balearic Islands. The agency continues working to ensure that the balance between growing demand and environmental preservation is compatible with the dynamism that characterizes this activity.
