PortsIB Activates Buoy Reservation System at Formentor Anchorage Field

PortsIB will open the regulated anchorage buoy field at Formentor starting this coming Saturday, July 20th. Reservations can be made through the reservation platform (http://reservas.portsib.es/reservas) starting this Friday, July 19th.

This opening allows boaters to manage their reservations in advance and enjoy organized and convenient access to the available buoys.

The buoy field was not yet operational due to an appeal filed by the North Mallorca Navigators Association (ANNM), supported by the ADN Mediterráneo Navigators Association, against the tender for the management of the field.

Since May 24th, Ports IB has been operating the reservation platform for buoys in seven of the eight fields coordinated by the public company of the Government of the Balearic Islands. The only pending field was Formentor. The available buoy fields include Cap Blanc - Cala Blava and Sant Elm in Mallorca; Badia de S'Alga - S'Espalmador, Es Caló de S'Oli, and Platja de Ses Salines in Ibiza and Formentera; and Badia Fornells and Illa d'en Colom - Cala Tamarells in Menorca.

Starting this Friday, users of the online platform will also be able to reserve buoys at Formentor and access other integrated services. The new PortsIB reservation platform has been designed to offer an improved user experience, facilitating a simpler, more practical, and agile reservation process. The tool is compatible with mobile devices and various browsers and includes advanced security features such as two-factor authentication.

In addition to implementing the platform, PortsIB has made significant efforts to protect the environment in the Formentor area. Concrete blocks that were located on the Posidonia oceanica seagrass beds and others that were out of use have been removed. This action, part of PortsIB's commitment to conserving the natural environment, has been accompanied by the installation of low-impact environmental anchors to help preserve delicate marine ecosystems.

The launch of this reservation platform coincides with the start of the peak boating season, offering users an efficient tool to plan their anchorages in advance. This system not only facilitates reservation management but also contributes to the organization and regulation of anchoring in Formentor, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and protecting sensitive marine areas.
