Raúl Prendes and Ilhan Velasco of Es Nàutic, win bronze in the Spanish Half Marathon Champs

Aranjuez hosted the Spanish Half Marathon Championship. The competition was held on the Tagus River, with three laps of a 3.5-kilometre circuit and one lap of a 1-kilometer circuit, making a total of 11.5 kilometers. In addition, they had to do two 100-meter portages running with the canoe and the paddle in their hands, at the start of the third and fourth laps.

The Club Nàutic Sant Antoni (CNSA) went to the competition with three junior paddlers who are having a great season in their first year in the category: Raúl Prendes and Ilhan Velasco in K-2, and Álvaro Rubio in K-1. The intention, according to their coach Eduardo Prendes, "was to have a first contact and enjoy the experience in a canoeing discipline in which they had never taken part and which was unknown to them, and at the same time to take our athletes out of their comfort zone".

However, the result could not have been more satisfactory for the CNSA debutants, as Prendes and Velasco managed to get on the podium in K-2 and take the bronze medal after racing the whole race in the leading group, being left behind in the second and last portage, just one kilometre from the finish line, which they crossed with a time of 48'35"02. The winners were the local pair of Juan Carlos Sánchez-Beato and Darío Martínez (47'40"09), followed by the pair from the Club Sociedad Deportiva Santiagotarrak de Irún, formed by Alejandro Arana and Markel Juaristi (47'52"06).

For his part, Álvaro Rubio finished in a creditable tenth position, with a time of 56'56"04, in an event in which the winner was Rubén Castilla, also from the Club Escuela de Piragüismo Aranjuez (51'54"05).
