Recital of the class 6 Meters in the Marinepool Summer Cup

A total of 35 prestigious sailors distributed in seven boats originally from 5 different countries (Spain, Sweden, Germany, Great Britain and Finland) this weekend they have congregated in the Club Nàutic S’Arenal (CNA) to participate in the Marinepool Summer Cup, an exclusive sailing competition for the class 6 Meters.

The competition, sponsored by the fashion brand nautical Marinepool, consisted of a total of five trials windward/leeward of one hour duration, distributed from friday until sunday. This way on friday the 14th, it was possible to celebrate on time the sailing competition planned to start at three o’clock, developing an ‘embat’ between 14 to 15 knots and resulting winner of the boat “Momo”. Regarding of saturday, there were two sailing competitions that started at 13 o’clock with an ‘embat’ around 10 knots, prevailing the “Ginkgotoo” in both.

Finally, on sunday the wind made them wait until the wakening of an earth wind, the first one of the two planned had to be postponed an hour, but both of them could be celebrated with a wind from the south with a 10 knot intensity, beating “Sophie” in the first, “Momo” in the second and last round of the competition. When they finalized the journeys, the sponsor awarded the winners with a prize for each day.

After these passionate days of competition, the final podium is covered by three Swiss teams. The head team classified was “Ginkgotoo”, second “Momo” and closing the podium, “Sophie”. “The club is an idyllic place for us, with the best access to the Bay of Palma, ten minutes away from the airport and very well connected to European Countries, very good installations and an exquisite treatment, familiar and very friendly”, Wieser points out. This way, in the end, one of the characteristics of this class is that the boats are very different among themselves, in terms of bathtubs, sterns, bows, etc.

“The 6M looks alot like the Dragon clase, with smaller boats”, adds Wieser, who points out “among the sailors who participated in the Marinepool Summer Cup where there are real champions, including people like Álvaro Mariño. In the crew there are many champions of the world of all types and also olympic sailors, including some medalists”, he says. “It is a class that is becoming more professional each day. Nowadays, the fleet that we have at CNA is consists of nine boats, with security, next year we will expand to more than a dozen”, he concludes.
