'Rupit' Dominates in the Third Race of Sa Lliga Hivern in Mahón

The 'Rupit', a boat from the Club Marítimo de Mahón, was the fastest in corrected time, adding 3 points to the overall standings with two races left to be contested.

Another Sunday saw the dominance of 'Rupit' in the Sa Lliga Hivern trophy. Mireia García's boat also claimed victory in the third race of the trophy held last Sunday, February 23. This win places it uniquely at the top of the leaderboard with a perfect score of 3 points out of 3 possible, awaiting the final two races of the competition.

The lack of wind on Sunday conditioned a race that the committee had to cut down to 9.4 nautical miles up to the island of Aire on port tack. In total, 11 boats competed. The 'Alba III' of Carlos Pons Vidal was the fastest to cover the course with a time of 2:56:36, but after the time correction, victory went to the sails of 'Rupit', which now has three wins in three races. Mireia García's boat completed the course in a time of 3:03:53, beating 'Alba III' by 3:57. The podium was completed by 'Asturcon Quinto' of Aina Triay, with a difference of 4:12.

With two races remaining, 'Rupit' leads with 3 points (1,1,1), followed by 'Sukita' of Virginia Petrus, with 10 points (3,2,5) and 'Asturcon Quinto' also with 10 points, but with worse results (4,3,3). The fourth and fifth races will take place on March 9, while the last race will be on March 23.
