This Sunday, the Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita (CNR) has resumed its activity after the summer break, celebrating a new edition of the President's Trophy. "This is one of the club's most emblematic regattas. It has been held every year for more than two decades in honor of the club's president", explains Carlos Esteller, head of Cruising at the CNR.

About thirty boats have participated in this emblematic event. “Approximately half have attended the date of different clubs of the Bay of Palma and southeast of Mallorca. This way, the boats are already in the port facing their participation, the following Saturday the 14th, in the Trofeo Vinos J.L. Ferrer, who celebrates this year its twentieth edition”, points out Esteller. Some of the participating crew moved from Llucmajor to CNR for the Trofeo S’Arenal- Sa Rapita-S’Arenal, that took place yesterday, Saturday. “Their boats will be moored at the CNR until the following Sunday, when they will set sail to their home ports, and thus enjoying the past two intense weekends of regattas”, he adds.

“The regatta launched with a stable wind of 7 knots with gusts up to 14 knots and in direction between 135 and 136, allowing excellent conditions for this type of sailing”, according to Esteller. At 11.00h in the morning 12 of the boats had departed for the category ORC and 9 minutes later, the 21 ships that were part of the class RI, headed to Corberana, S’Estalella, CNR, S’Estalella again and finished in the CNR. “It consists of a very fun and inspirational  circuit, sailing between islands and linking the waters of several municipalities by means of navigation", Esteller points out.

The first boats to arrive at the finish line, in real time, have been S’Indio III in ORC and Nidea 2 in RI. The definitive classification in ORC has been led y Kyo V, followed by S’Indio III and Frágil V. In RI, the podium is made up by Nidea 2, Escuela de Vela of the CNR and Bonaventura.

After the race, it was offered to the sailors a barbecue of meat in the club, in which a hundred people participated, giving a social dimension to this regatta. The winners received a prize consisting of a basket of local products, such as Campos cheeses and Mallorcan wine.

The results of the race can be consulted at http://regatas.cnrapita.com/es/default/races/race-resultsall/text/trofeo-presidente-es-14-es/menuaction/index.

Pau Lladó, president of the club has pointed out that “it has been a beautiful journey where it was able to add up more than 30 registrations, and that supposes to gather in the club more than a hundred sailors of different ages and clubs of origin, This, together with the sunny day we had and the coastal course planned by the race committee, who sailed close to the shore, made for a fantastic postcard. People enjoyed it and personally I'm happy because getting together, eating, laughing and the simple fact of sailing are the ingredients to make a club. Without a doubt, it was a beautiful thing", he concludes.

Carlos Esteller adds that "the organization of an event of this category is becoming easier and easier, simply because we are used to it, people are already familiar with our regatta schedule and have responded quite well. Many sailors repeat because they already know the date, and it is marked in red in their calendar. In addition, the brotherhood and the good harmony we have with other clubs such as S'Arenal or S'Estanyol, among many others, make it an outstanding social event", he adds.

Next weekend, the CNR will host the XX Trofeo Vinos J.L. Ferrer on Saturday 14th, with a course in the waters of Sa Ràpita and Cabrera, as well as the start of the second race of the Trofeo S'Arenal-Sa Rapita-S'Arenal on Sunday 15th.
