The ILCA Europa Cup concluded yesterday in the Bay of Pollença with the victory of the only Indian representative, Wishnu Saravanan (ILCA 7), the Swiss Maud Jayet (ILCA 6) and the Czech Jeremias Prikryl (ILCA 4). The last day was marked by unstable winds, which at all times blew at over 15 knots, but the wind direction ranged from 220 to 270 degrees, which made the work of the Race Committee difficult.

A single race for each of the classes brought to an end a competition that brought together 337 athletes from 34 countries. In ILCA 6, a women's Olympic class but in which men and women competed together, the Swiss Maud Jayet won, despite the fact that she closed her score with a 34-point discard. She had scored four firsts up to that fifth heat. This gives an idea of the difficulty of the Pollença regatta course. The sailor of the Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita, Marga Perelló, has made a great performance in this championship finishing first sub19 and third sub21. Her club mate, Francisca Puig, finished third in the ILCA 4 sub16 class.

Sergio García, from the Real Club Náutico de Palma, also failed in the last race (27th), but made the consistency of the previous two days count to climb to the second step of the podium, just one point behind the winner and be crowned sub19 champion. Australian Casey Imeneo, winner of the final regatta, had to settle for bronze.

The Europa Cup of Pollença was the second qualifying event of the European ILCA (EURILCA) circuit and served as a preamble to the European Championship that will take place from the 16th to the 23rd of March, again organized by the Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença.
