During the spring and summer months, when sea temperatures are higher, the water at Sant Elm Beach takes on a greenish hue. This is due to the proliferation of harmful algae caused by the lack of currents and the shallow depth of the bay. These three temporary pumps will help mitigate the algae and eliminate the greenish color during these months.
The Councilor for the Environment, Antoni Nicolau, emphasized that "with the execution of the water recirculation project at the beach, we aim to alleviate the issue and eliminate the proliferation of microalgae that causes discomfort among our residents, even though it doesn't harm humans." Mayor Estefanía Gonzalvo added, "Carrying out this action is a demand from our neighbors, and as a governing team, we must listen to their needs and find practical solutions. Furthermore, thanks to the installation of these pumps, we will be able to enjoy our crystal-clear waters all year round."
