In addition to his Olympic podium, which he was recognised nine years late due to the disqualification of one of his rivals, Sete Benavides has been continental runner-up four times and has four medals in world championships and another six in European championships, as well as a bronze in the 2019 European Games.

His sporting successes were a great boost for canoeing in the Balearic Islands.

The canoeist of the Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença, Sete Benavides, bronze medallist at the London 2012 Olympic Games, will appear tomorrow at 12.00 noon to announce his retirement from top-level competition, although he will continue to be linked to canoeing as a coach.

The press conference will take place at the headquarters of the Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença. Sete Benavides will be accompanied by the man who discovered him and has been his coach since his beginnings, Kiko Martín, who is currently in charge of the canoeing section of the club and national canoeing coach of the Royal Spanish Canoe Federation.
