The Barcelona International Sailing Center (BISC), located in Port Fòrum and current headquarters of Base Mini, has once again been the starting point and will also be the finishing point of the regatta. Here, the participants have had the opportunity to prepare for the two tough stages of the competition and to make use of the excellent facilities offered by this international training and technification center. Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita will host the regatta in Mallorca, welcoming the fleet and organizing and kicking off the second leg of the Solo Med.
This year, the Federació Catalana de Vela assumed a key role in the organization of the competition, as a result of the alliance with the Barcelona Nautical Capital Foundation and Base Mini to reaffirm Catalonia and Barcelona as a strategic point of the Mini 6.50 Class in southern Europe.
This alliance will allow a wider reach for this class to reach more sailors, more Catalan Sailing clubs and, above all, the entire population in general, connecting the current Base Mini Barcelona sporting project with other sailing dissemination programs carried out by the Federació Catalana de Vela and other projects that add value.
Enthusiasm for this year's regatta has experienced a slight increase, with a total of 24 participants, compared to 23 in the previous edition. This consolidation reaffirms the regatta as an outstanding event in the single-handed sailing calendar. With this base, work will be done with determination for the next edition, with the firm objective of reaching 35 participants, thus reaffirming its prestige and importance in the world of single-handed sailing.
It should be noted that many of the sailors who participate join after completing the Mini “Rome-Barcelona” regatta that took place from April 24th to April 30th, demonstrating their commitment and passion for this sport.
