Sport and the environment come together in the first Vuelta a Sa Porrassa swimming race

1st September 2023 by Nautimedia

Mar de Fondo, an organization dedicated to the conservation of seas and oceans, is organizing a unique sporting and environmental awareness event on 23rd September on the beach of Magaluf, the first Swimming Tour of Sa Porrassa.

The aim of this first edition is not to reach the finish line first, nor to be the fastest swimmer, but to discover the beauty of the waters of Magaluf, often undervalued by the tourist fame of the area, and to connect with the sea through sport, while promoting the conservation of our Mediterranean.

The crossing will start at Magaluf beach, from where those registered will dive into the sea to swim a distance of approximately 2 kilometres, going around the island of Sa Porrassa. It is not necessary to be an expert open water swimmer to participate in this non-competitive sporting event, as it is an ideal distance for both beginners and experienced swimmers.

At the end of the course, participants will be able to recharge their batteries in the refreshment area located in Plaça Jaques Sasson, where there will be music, fruit, snacks and refreshments. In this area there will also be different information stands about the main marine conservation projects being carried out on the island and about the Pacte Blau Balear. In addition, Passion for the Sea is the official media of the event and we will keep you up to date with all the preparations leading up to this innovative environmental awareness-raising event and will report live on everything that happens during this exciting swim.

Those interested in participating in this sporting event can do so in two ways: swimming or using a paddle surf board as a support. But the most important thing is to bring diving goggles and a snorkel as equipment, to be able to see all the treasures of the seabed and appreciate the beauty of our Mediterranean Sea.

Registrations are now open (https://www.eventbrite.es/e/entradas-vuelta-a-sa-porrassa-a-nado-704492525107?aff=oddtdtcreator) and are limited to 300 people. The price is 17€, and 20% will be donated to a marine conservation project. It also includes personal accident insurance, refreshments, participation in raffles and a T-shirt of the event.
