After the deadline for submitting proposals ended this Monday, the count of the bidding companies allowed the Deputy Mayor of Tourism, Eli Monserrat, to say that the tender is a "success", and that it promises a new stage for the coast of Calvià.

The quality and innovation of the specifications have provoked an extraordinary response from the beach services sector, attracting the attention even of companies from beyond Mallorca, such as Barcelona and Ibiza. Most of the 14 lots into which the beaches and coves of the municipality have been divided have bids from between three and four bidders, which will allow the leap in quality that the council wanted to make with this public tender.

In fact, the Town Council has tried to complete specifications that respect the environment and the surroundings, so that the maximum occupation by authorized installations of any kind will not exceed 45% of the beach surface. In addition, in some cases, Balinese beds have been introduced, installed at the back of the beaches to encourage the use of an area that is usually underused. However, no temporary installation prevents or hinders the use of the beach,

no temporary installation prevents or hinders the public and the use of the beach. Nautical installations such as paddle surf, electric paddle surf, canoes and pedal boats may not occupy more than 10% of the total length of the beach. With regard to the environment, the specifications eliminate all motorized elements.

The opening hours during the high season (July and August) will be from 10.00 to 19.30 hours, while in the medium season (May, June, September and October) it will be from 10.00 to 18.00 hours, and in the low season from 11.00 to 16.00 hours. The latter timetable will be in force from 15 March to the end of April and during the month of November. These are, in any case, compulsory minimum services, with a maximum closing time of 22.00 hours. The bars and kiosks will close at midnight.

One of the most important new features of the specifications is that, for the management of the services, the successful bidders will have to use the City Council's management programme or software.

In this way, payment for the services can be made in cash, or through the software itself, in web format or mobile application.
