The Employment Service of the Illes Balears (SOIB), an agency affiliated with the Ministry of Business, Employment, and Energy, celebrated this Wednesday, October 30, the IV technical day of the Centre de la Mar, an event in which attendees discussed the latest innovations in hull treatments, a key topic for the conservation and performance of vessels.

This is a now established event aimed at educational staff, trainers, and professionals in the sector. In the context of these sessions, workshops have been designed with the goal of providing participants the opportunity to interact with experts and learn firsthand about the most advanced technologies in hull treatments. The director of SOIB, María de la Luz Moreno, has emphasized the involvement of various sector actors, given the contribution of this activity to the development and future of the nautical industry, "which now, more than ever, needs to incorporate sustainable solutions and advanced technologies that ensure its competitiveness and respect for the environment."

Moreno also highlighted the collaboration of leading companies such as Hempel and PropSpeed in the realization of the day, as "a space of knowledge has been created where the latest techniques and products are presented, all aimed at improving the efficiency of vessels and reducing environmental impact."

The director added, "It is a pride for the Centre de la Mar, National Reference Entity of Nautics, and for SOIB to contribute to continuous training and the dissemination of these innovations, in order to stay at the forefront of the nautical sector globally."

During the morning, attendees were able to enjoy practical workshops, in which industry-leading companies shared their latest techniques and innovative solutions.

In the afternoon, starting at 5 p.m., the day continued with an online conference that was broadcast live. This session, focused on hull treatments, featured two prominent speakers from the sector: Joan Moret, Area Manager of Hempel Paints, and Jesús González-Llanos, head of PropSpeed in Spain. Both shared their experience and vision on the latest trends and challenges in the field of coatings and treatments for the submerged part of boats, essential for ensuring greater durability and efficiency of vessels.
